Our first annual back to school event was amazing, an eventful day that really touched the community of Los Angeles and all the disadvantaged youth that came to REACH Day. We gave away 1,200+ backpacks full of school supplies, 500+ new name brand shoes, free food, free STD screenings, free teeth cleanings, free haircuts/hairdos. We hosted over 50 vendors. We had over 2,000 people at REACH Day. REACH Day was a success. Thank you to our sponsors and volunteers. REACH Day would not be possible without our community.

About REACH Day

REACH Day is our annual back to school event held in Los Angeles. REACH Center is dedicated to serving at-risk youth and providing support, opportunity and hope. REACH Day is about reaching the underprivileged youth in inner-city communities throughout Los Angeles and surrounding areas and providing those in need of school supplies with the tools necessary to be successful students and excel in the classroom. Through sponsorship and partnering with other non-profit organizations, businesses, churches and individuals it is our goal to distribute at least 1,000 new backpacks filled with essential school supplies and at least 500 new pair of shoes, helping alleviate the families' financial burden of getting school supplies and back to school shoes. REACH Day ensures disadvantaged youth get to start the new school year off on the same level as their peers, feeling confident and prepared to succeed academically.

In addition to providing back to school supplies and shoes, we will also have a youth health fair and career expo at this event. There will be a number of companies, institutions, organizations, agencies, college representatives, and recruiters present at the expo to educate students about the variety of career opportunities available and the skills needed to acquire those jobs. Exhibitors will use interactive displays to engage the interest of youth, provide information on their occupational field, answer questions and conduct mock interviews. The health fair will promote healthy lifestyle choices for the youth, several booths will be set up to dispense information on health education, the effects of drugs and alcohol, etc. Medical professionals will conduct free health and dental screenings and provide resources for youth and families. There will be food, live music, free haircuts, activities, a raffle, games and prizes. REACH Center will be acknowledging some of the outstanding foster parents and youth leaders in the community.
